Dr. Suman Jhajharia

Research Scientist

Suman received her PhD from CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, in Chemical Science, in the year 2019. Prior to that, she had obtained her master’s degree in Physical Chemistry from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. Her research is focused on designing functional nanomaterials for energy and environmental applications. This research includes the
investigations on various synthesis routes and their effect on the performance of graphene and its composites for applications such as clean energy production and storage. The primary
objective of her research is to develop sustainable and low-cost organic-inorganic nanohybrid materials for the variety of technologies having high societal impact.

Active research areas
1. 2D carbon, metal oxide based multifunctional nanocomposite materials for energy
conversion and storage applications
2. Synthesis of cost-effective graphene and its derivatives from Indian coal
3. Nanocatalytic systems for efficient production of clean hydrogen
4. Graphene membranes for water ultrafiltration
5. Functional graphene-based inks for micro-supercapacitors
