Dr. Shashaank Gupta

Research Scientist
Shashaank received his PhD from Virginia Tech in Material Science and Engineering, in the year 2013. Prior to that, he had obtained master’s degrees in Material Science and Physics from IIT Kanpur and MJP Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, respectively. Before joining Virginia Tech India in 2014, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow at Virginia Tech for a year. The main focus of his research is the structure-property relationship in the ferroelectric and piezoelectric materials. Besides, his research interests also include application of piezoelectrics in sensing applications and usage of metal oxide, specially perovskites, for energy storage.

Research Interests

  1. Domain switching in distorted perovskites
  2. Crystallographic anisotropy of physical properties in functional materials
  3. Magneto-caloric Materials
  4. Distribution of charge defects in perovskites
  5. Piezoelectric devices for sensing applications
  6. Metal oxides, specially perovskites, for energy storage
